Drop Shaped Tahitian ("black pearl") Pearl Pendant Necklace on 14k Gold

The drop shape Tahitian with the circles near the top is a perfect transition for the layered 14k white gold cap I chose to use. They were meant for each other! This 13.3 x 18mm pearl is medium grey with predominantly green overtones showing some blues and purple. A really unique drop! Get ready for the compliments and questions!

Interesting Fact: Did you know that legend tells of the first Tahitian pearl being made by the God Oro who was in love with the mortal Princess of Bora Bora? In order to show his affection for her he surfed down a rainbow with the first Tahitian pearl to give it to her as a sigh of his affection. Along the way, the pearl picked up all the colors of the rainbow which give the best of the Tahitian pearls their unique beauty. From then on spread them across the ocean for all of us to find, enjoy and maybe even to use as out our expression of affection.
